PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Based out of FQHC / THC--perfectly situated for our broad spectrum, rural / primary care focus, while serving the underserved
Partnered with St Luke's Children's Hospital (142 dedicated pediatric hospital beds, > 200 pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists, most isolated children's hospitial in the contiguous US with catchment area of over 1.2 million people, ACS Verified Level 2 Trauma Center)
Small program size = very personal attention and teaching. You will really know your attendings and they will really know you!

Recruiting first class to begin in late June 2023
4 residents per class--will build to a total of 12 residents over the next 3 years
Outstanding longitudinal pediatrics clinic continuity in a newly renovated clinic site
Opportunity to help refine and grow a new program that already has very strong roots and support
Optimal focus on clinical education over clinical work--outstanding learning-work balance
New residency, but FCH has 48 years of success in sponsoring residency education
LOCATION
Live in gorgeous Boise, Idaho--big city amenities with a small city feel and great outdoors access
FCH serves Boise’s large refugee, immigrant, and migrant populations through regular and international clinics
Residents will receive training in and experience with patients from a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, political and religious beliefs, and relationships with medicine (142 languages spoken in our clinics)
Over 190 miles of trails from town along the river and up into the mountains
Ski 40 minutes from downtown, fly fish in downtown, bike / hike / run almost anywhere! *Explore Wild Idaho--so much outdoor beauty!
CURRICULUM
13 4-week blocks per academic year
Rural Pediatrics clinical experience and curriculum in each academic year (2.5 blocks over 3 years)
Strong advocacy training – longitudinal advocacy curriculum and opportunities to work closely with legislators, and community and physician advocates, to advance children’s health and equity – your voice will matter here (2 blocks over 3 years)
Modified X+Y scheduling--never need to run from hospital to clinic or vice versa in the same day *Daily didactics that cover the full spectrum of pediatrics; one half-day conference per block
DIVERSITY INITIATIVES
Established Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion curriculum integrated into training
Active JEDI Committee and a strong commitment to advancing this work
FCH hosts one of Idaho’s largest gender affirming care clinics
