PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
  • UC Davis is an academic medical center and regional trauma center, serving diverse communities in both urban underserved and rural underserved areas of Northern/Central California

  • We strive to improve health equity within Northern / Central California through in-person visits, telemedicine, community partnerships, QI, research, and education.

  • Our community partners include: - 2 Continuity Clinics in FQHCs: Sacramento County

  • Health Center & Sacramento Native American Health Center - Kaiser (HMO) - Shriners Hospital for Children

  • Our residents are:

  • Advocates who have: Partnered with the community to improve health - Published op-eds - Educated families via tv and radio (in multiple languages) - Created Kids Considered blog & podcast - Testified in front of California legislature - Been regional leaders in AAP

  • Scholars who have: - Published scholarship - Presented nationally Amazing, caring pediatricians!

  • Sacramento - Diverse, capital of California - Farm to Fork capital - outdoor activities nearby - legislative & social media advocacy training and opportunities

CURRICULUM
  • X+Y: 3+1 schedule;

  • Longitudinal, integrated CHAANJE Lives curriculum (Community Health, Advocacy, Anti-racism, Neighborhood partnerships, social Justice, health Equity);

  • Community Health & Advocacy (CHA) - 4 wks as intern;

  • Mentored scholarly project with protected time to do scholarship in one of 4 focus areas: CHA, Research, QI, Medical Education

  • Longitudinal Wellness curricula - Continuity clinic immersion weeks as PGY1 and PGY2 - Thursday Block didactics

DIVERSITY INITIATIVES
  • Longitudinal, integrated CHAANJE Lives curriculum

  • Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) pediatric resident grant opportunities

  • Mandatory JEDI training during Intern Orientation
